Experienced Practitioner Scheme

The experienced practitioner scheme has changed since the publication of the Quality Assured Spirometry document. In this document there was a requirement for everyone except experienced practitioners to undergo training before undertaking the certification process (portfolio and OSCE). Experienced practitioners used to apply for certification separately once their experience had been deemed enough to go directly to the certification process.

However, it is now for the practitioner to decide if they would like to undertake training or not before applying for certification. Training is no longer a mandatory requirement of the certification process.

The experienced practitioner scheme now forms part of the normal certification process in that, if you are an experienced practitioner and have all processes in place, then you may decide there is no need to attend any training and you can go straight to applying for the certification process.
